FERGUSON AUSTRALIA

Ferguson Australia is a third-generation seafood company that harvests, processes, packages and distributes live, chilled and frozen seafood from its export operations in Adelaide and regional depots (including Kangaroo Island) in South Australia.

The core product of Ferguson Australia is Southern Rock Lobster, representing about 75% of sales. It is the most sought after lobster in Asian markets, and is only found in the pristine waters of South East Australia and New Zealand.

Ferguson Australia also produces sustainably caught Giant Crabs, King Prawns, King George Whiting, Southern Garfish, Pacific Oysters and other seafood delicacies. The business exports frozen, live and chilled seafood to countries and regions across the globe including China, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA and the Middle East.

Its export sales have doubled in the past two years, now accounting for 80% of company revenue.

The brand is highly respected, as Ferguson Australia is widely regarded as one of the most innovative players in the Southern Rock Lobster industry, having developed a number of value added products.

BGFC intends on acquiring additional lobster quota to augment the supply of lobster available to Ferguson Australia.

MORI SEAFOOD

Mori Seafood, based in Port Lincoln, South Australia, processes and supplies a wide range of premium seafood products within Australia and globally. The company exports 50 tonnes of live lobster annually to China.

Mori Seafood processes around 600 tonnes of tuna each year, a portion of this under the MORITuna label. The vacuum packed Southern Bluefin Tuna is primarily sold to high-end restaurants around the world and has become the flagship of the Mori Seafood products range, complementing the core business of live lobster and tuna processing. Other products sold by Mori Seafood include Boston Bay Mussels, Yellowtail Kingfish, Pacific Oysters, Western King Prawn, Ocean Jacket, Baby Octopus and Bight Redfish. The company has developed a unique pathway into China and has an office in Shenzhen.

The business has been acquired by Ferguson Australia, the assets of which include lobster quota.

SEAFOOD PROCESSING FACILITY (Five Star Seafoods)

BGFC has acquired, in partnership with Ferguson Australia, a large 200 tonne Southern Rock Lobster processing and export facility owned by Five Star Seafoods (SA) Pty Ltd. The facility is based at Port MacDonnell, home to the largest Southern Rock Lobster fleet in southern Australia, fishing the pristine waters for premium export quality seafood.

Key features include live rock lobster tanks with a holding capacity in excess of 25 tonnes, chilling tanks, packaging facilities and bait freezers. The facility predominantly exports to Chinese markets.
