BPAM was formed in 1992 to build on the experience and skills of its shareholders/Directors in investment banking, law, corporate advice, financial services and business management. It has a strong track record of identifying, evaluating and implementing acquisitions and investment opportunities and in managing these investments.

The company has built a reputation for recognising and structuring investments in a number of key industries, including wine, industrial property and caravan parks.

The Directors and key executives of BPAM have an in-depth knowledge of the food and agriculture industry and have more than 100 years of combined experience in making investments in strategic, high growth industries.


Roger Sexton, AM B.Ec. (Hons), M.Ec., PhD (Econ), FAICD, FAIM, S.F.Fin, C.Univ


Dr Roger Sexton is an investment banker and company director. He holds Doctorate and Master’s Degrees in Economics from North Carolina State University and an Honours Degree (First Class) in Economics from the Flinders University of South Australia.

He was awarded the Bank of Adelaide Prize in Economics in 1970 and the American Agricultural Economics Society Outstanding Doctoral Program Award in 1976.

Roger has extensive experience in the agricultural sector, having completed his secondary education at the Urrbrae Agricultural High School and undertaken tertiary studies in agricultural economics, in addition to finance and business management. On graduation, he worked for the Bureau of Agricultural Economics and was an Executive Director of the Industries Assistance Commission, specialising in rural industries.

Roger has also had extensive experience overseas and particularly in China and the Asia Pacific as a result of leading trade and investment missions to the region for more than 30 years and from working on investment banking transactions in the region.

Roger is Chairman of the Investment Manager, Beston Pacific Asset Management Pty Ltd, Chairman of ASX listed IOOF Holdings Ltd, KeyInvest Ltd, and a Director of IBISWorld. He has served on the Australian Accounting Standards Board and is actively engaged in a number of community organisations, including as Chairman and Principal Patron of the Freemasons Foundation Men’s Health Centre at the University of Adelaide.

Roger has founded and developed the Company over the past three years and will continue to play a key role in driving the growth of the Company.


Stephen Gerlach, AM LL.B FAICD

Non-Executive Director

Stephen Gerlach is a corporate adviser and company director. He was formerly a Partner and the Managing Partner of Finlaysons Lawyers for 23 years. Stephen is the Chancellor of Flinders University of South Australia.

He was a Director of Santos Limited for over 20 years and was its Chairman from 2001 to 2009.

Stephen has been Chairman of agricultural company Elders Australia Limited and its listed holding company, Futuris Corporation Limited (now known as Elders Limited).

Stephen was a Director of the Australian and International wine company Southcorp Holdings Ltd from 1994 - 2005.

Stephen was also formerly Chairman of Riverland Water, Challenger Listed Investment Ltd, Amdel Ltd, Equatorial Mining Ltd, and a Director of AMP Australia and a number of other listed and unlisted public companies.

Stephen is a director of Beston Pacific Asset Management Pty Ltd.

Stephen is Chairman of Adelaide Capital Partners Pty Ltd and Gerlach Asset Development Pty Ltd. He has also been involved in many State and National Not-for-Profit organisations and Professional Associations and chaired many of them.


Petrina Coventry B.Ed., M. Phil. (Ethics), MBA, EMBA, FAHRI, FAICD

Independent Non-Executive Director

Petrina Coventry is Industry Professor and Director of Development with the Adelaide University Faculty of Professions and Business School. She previously held Global Vice President roles with the General Electric Company and The Coca Cola Company in the United States and Asia and more recently CHRO with Santos Ltd.

Her experience covers multiple industries including energy, technology, education, fast moving consumer goods and financial services.

Her work in organisational transformation, company performance and governance has led to increased involvement with governments, industry associations and consulting groups across the Asian region.

Petrina is an ethicist by background and completing her PHD with Melbourne University. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Vincent Fairfax Fellow, Fellow of the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) and a Non-Executive Director with the Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP).


Jim Kouts BA (Journalism), FAICD

Independent Non-Executive Director

Jim has served as a senior executive and non-executive director in major companies in the energy, financial service and business tourism industries and has also held various senior positions in the public sector.

He is currently Chair of Home Start Finance, Senior Executive, GDF SUEZ Australian Energy, Non-Executive Director of Adelaide Convention Bureau and is Strategic Advisor to Adelaide Airport Ltd.

Through his various roles, Jim has gained strong commercial and contract negotiation skills and has a sound grasp of governance, strategy and strategy implementation. These skills, together with his extensive insight of air freight logistics into Asia will be invaluable on the Board.


Ian McPhee AO PSM B.Bus, B.A, FCPA, FCA

Independent Non-Executive Director

Ian served as the Auditor General of Australia until June 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Computing Studies) degree.

Ian is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

He is currently a Member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants and an Adjunct Professor at the College of Business and Economics, Australian National University.

He is the former Deputy Chair of the Australian Accounting Standards Board.


Catherine Cooper  LLB, GDLP

Independent Non-Executive Director

Catherine holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP).

She has had extensive experience at both management level and at Board level in a wide range of companies and instrumentalities in the agribusiness sector in Australia, including, previously:

  • Senior executive management positions with Fosters Brewing Group, Elders Limited and Futuris Corporation Ltd
  • Chair of SA Fisheries Council
  • Chair of SA Dairy Regulator
  • Directorships at SA Water Corporation, National Agrifoods Skills Council and the National Quarantine Export Advisory Council

and currently;

  • Commissioner, Australian Fisheries Management Authority
  • Chair, Fleurieu Waste Management Authority
  • Director, Australian Egg Corporation Limited

Catherine has enjoyed significant recognition as an industry leader in her field and was a finalist in both the 1997 and 1998 Telstra Business Woman’s Awards. Her experience and expertise in stakeholder engagement across a broad range of industries in the agribusiness sector spans both the public sector and the private sector and has included a strong focus on compliance, risk management and regulatory environments.

She was involved in the establishment of the Elders Rural Bank and has played a key advisory role in the development of food businesses in Australia, and the balancing of complex food safety and health issues against international marketing opportunities.



Company Secretary

Richard is an experienced, Non-Executive Director, Company Secretary and CFO with more than 20 years’ experience predominantly within the mining and agricultural sectors for both publicly listed and private companies.

Richard has a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of South Australia, is a fellow of CPA Australia, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In addition to his role as Company Secretary of BFC, he is a Non-Executive Director of Titomic Limited (ASX:TTT), and AusTin Mining Limited (ASX:ANW), Non-Executive Director and Company Secretary of the not-for-profit Unity Housing Company, Company Secretary of Wilgena Resources Limited, 1414 Degrees Limited, Director and Treasurer of Variety SA, and a Director and Company Secretary of numerous other private companies. Richard is the Chairman of the Audit Committees of AusTin Mining Limited, Titomic Limited and Unity Housing Company, and is the Chairman of the Remuneration & Nomination Committee of Titomic Limited.

Richard has previously been CFO, Company Secretary and Non-Executive Director of a number of ASX Listed Companies. He has significant experience with IPOs, back door listings and capital raisings.

Sean Ebert B.Elec.Eng. (Hons), MAICD

Chief Executive

Sean Ebert holds a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Electrical Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in senior executive roles in the food, mining, infrastructure and energy industries.

He has a broad range of international acquisition and divestment experience and most recently was Director for Mergers and Acquisitions with Worley Parsons Ltd. Prior to this role, Sean was Regional Director for Logicamms Ltd, a project based engineering and asset management firm.

He brings a breadth of knowledge of the agribusiness sector, having worked with companies in Australia and overseas in small family owned situations through to large multinational organisations.

He holds a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Electrical Engineering and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


AL JAWHARI B.Eng. (Aero/Mech) (Hons), MAICD

General Manager Food Systems Technology & Business Development

Al is a Food & Beverage industry expert with more than 15 years’ experience with leading global food and beverage corporates in brands creation, business development, complex business process integration and creating business value through innovation and technology.

He holds a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years’ experience in creating customer focused and industry specific commercial off the shelf software products for Food Enterprise, Government and Defence. In addition, he has Diplomas in Advanced Management, Software Engineering, and Sales and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He also brings in experience in providing competence within go to market strategy, products commercialisation and partners/distribution channels development in Middle East and North Africa.



Jock Tulloch  

General Manager, Thailand

An Australian national Jock has been working in the FMCG category in Asia for over a decade having worked in sales and marketing as well as setting up distribution and sales channels from scratch during this time.

Jock has a BA in Political Science/International Relations and History from the University of NSW as well as an MA in International Relations from the University of NSW

As the former Strategic Account Manager and now the General Manager for Beston Thailand Jock has been with Beston on the ground in ASEAN since the company listed and is now overseeing an important and critical new phase for the business in Thailand and the ASEAN region


Manunvadee Sunanot

Marketing Manager

Manunvadee has over 10 years of experience in tore promotion and co-promotion program in addition to Online Marketing for International Food Service Businesses.

She was previously a Marketing Manager at Sanrio Hello Kitty House Bangkok - Dream House (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. and a Marketing Manager at Kyochon Chicken - Kyochon Co.,Ltd. Manunvadee has also worked as an Assistant Marketing Manager at Au Bon Pain - ABP Café (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. and was a Promotion Executive at Ice Cream & Chilled Business Unit - Nestle (Thai) Co.,Ltd.




Regional General Manager, Vietnam

Trinh Phan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the International Trade University in Vietnam and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Ho Chi Minh City Open University and also has a post tertiary qualifications in business management, accounting and business administration.

Trinh was previously Chief Representative in Vietnam for V-Trac (Caterpillar) and Campus Development Manager for RMIT International University, Vietnam and has held Financial Accountant positions with Credit Agricole Indouez and Telstra Telecommunications.

Trinh has wide ranging experience in international trade and consumer markets along with a deep understanding of, and networks in, the Vietnamese economy.
